Hi Folks, thank you to all of you who participated and visited and voted and supported and juried for the Contest! Our reward will be an article in the Southampton Press this coming week - if it is online I'll post a link! So with the first snow flurries coming down and other areas already blanketed in white I am putting my mind to the next three months of winter. I'll be doing what I usually do in the winter: Teach in New York City and go to the pottery studio a couple of times a week to stay nice and warm next to the kiln. Somehow these idyllic winters were not so idyllic in the past - the commute, health and money issues were wearing down on me and other things as well. Just winter. OK here is the trick this year: I am calling it a winter vacation!! I'll be doing what I am doing anyway, but I will try not to go crazy with making plans and pushing business for like three months! I'll just be hatching out ideas for 2011 without letting them crash onto reality so soon. I'll give myself time to enjoy the outdoors, enjoy the company of friends and family, read a lot, exercise, cook, and spend time in my sewing studio. Everything will be the same, but the mindset is meant to be different. It's not so much my activities, it's my mind that I have to switch into vacation mode, aka, creation mode. I hope it works, it wouldn't be the first time that I try to have a "better" winter, but you know, this time I really want to have a great one. Relax, make fires, not fret about stuff.
I wish you the same and better!
Yours creatively,
Anne
